halloween 2011.

Last night we celebrated "adult Halloween."  I love how our generation has taken the holiday to a new level and it seems to be more about the adults than the kids these days.  I'm sure when Blake and I have children we will want it to be all about them. But, until then, we will keep doing it this way :)

This picture of Blake and Trey cracks me up!  All three of us did repeat costumes.  Blake was a zombie, Trey was a Reno 911 cop, and I was a girly version of a football player.

My co-worker and friend, Tara, had an amazing Halloween party! The decorations were incredible.

Blake and I did a little bit of party hopping and headed over to another friend's house.  It was a great night to say the least!

Halloween is my favorite holiday (tied with Christmas.) I love hearing about what people dressed up as or seeing the pictures.  What did you do for "adult Halloween?" Did you dress up? What are you doing on the actual holiday?

Both Blake and I are incredibly excited for Monday night because this is the first time we will have trick-or-treaters!!  Our big bowl of candy is ready to go! We are even thinking about buying a few big candy bars to award to the top costumes.  Boy won't we be upset if we just have one or two kidos stop by ha! This might be one of our favorite reasons we live in a house.

Happy Halloween!!!

october product favorites.

Hello everyone!  I also still adore the products listed in my holy grail cosmetics post (you can see that previous post here.)  I cannot imagine ever changing my favorite mineral foundation, the primer, the eyeliner (this product was in a separate post, listed here,) etc.  However, a few of these have been replaced or temporarily swapped out.  Below you can see what has changed from my original holy grail list.  Everything else has remained consistent.

Nars Albatross Highlighter (replacing the Too Faced Bronzer.) If you prefer a dewy, glowing look, then this product is for you! It comes in the same form as a blush and looks fantastic as a highlight on the upper cheek bones, along the center of your nose, the cupid’s bow, chin, and forehead.  This product looks gorgeous in certain types of lighting and, of course, in the sun! If you prefer a more matte look, then I would probably suggest against this one.

Nars Orgasm Blush (replacing the Nars Angelika blush.) Pretty much everyone and their dog has this blush.  It’s considered a “colt favorite.”  I seem to always stick with Nars blushes, primarily this one and the other listed in my holy grail post mentioned above.  The color is a beautiful shade of pink with little gold flecks throughout it.  This product somewhat ties in with the Albatross highlighter in regards to the “glow” factor.

Benefit “They’re Real” Mascara (replacing the Buxom Amplified Lash mascara.) Hello megalashes! A few coats of this stuff and people will be asking you non-stop if you are wearing fake eyelashes, hence the name.  If you like volume and length in your lashes, go pick this up..pronto! The only negative: Although this claims to be a regular mascara, it tends to act as a waterproof and can be a bit tricky to remove at night.

Buxom Lips, color Destiny. This lipgloss is basically the Nars Orgasm blush I mentioned above in a liquid form for your lips.  Once again, a gorgeous shade of pink with gold flecks for your lips.  This gloss has a decent amount of shimmer to it—just a heads up as I know that is not everyone’s cup of tea.

Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Under Eye Concealer (replacing the Benefit Erase Paste.) I seriously never thought I would stray from my Erase Paste for under eye circles, darkness, etc. I must admit, this guy has stolen my heart.  The only issue I have with most under eye concealers is the creasing! Don’t you just hate those lines?  If you have this problem I beg of you to go check this stuff out!! I promise, you will not regret it.  Plus, it’s a drug store brand and far less expensive compared to the higher end lines.  The liquid is a bit more gel based than a paste and works wonders!

Tweezerman: It's tough to say what makes these so different from any other pair of regular tweezers.  But, they ARE!  There's just something about the metal tips, the point, shape, and angle/slant of the edges that allows you to easily pluck brows.  The word that best describes these would be precision.  I feel like I am able to pull the brow each time on my first try (as opposed to the five or six tries it seems to take me with other tweezers ha!) These are limited edition with this adorable little elephant charm hanging on the end! You can't beat that :) The only negative: pricey! Nonetheless, I still think these are worth the price.

What are your favorite beauty/cosmetic products from October? Which ones do you like to switch up from time to time? I must confess, I am always changing my mascara so you will probably see that one change from month to month.  I’m pretty certain the Nars highlighter, blush, and Maybelline Age Rewind will probably stay in my holy grail bag for quite some time.

Please let me know if you have any questions.  Thanks for stopping by J

texas contemporary arts fair.

Last week Blake took me to the Texas Contemporary Arts Fair.  Talk about sensory overload!

My Little Pony 2011 style.  How cute is she? I felt bad for the cute little thing.

ones & twos.

Over the past two weeks, Blake and I celebrated birthdays for two very special little girls.  The first was for Emma, our second cousin, who was turning 1. The second was for Georgia, our niece, who was turning 2. Emma had a hungry caterpillar theme while Georgia had a lady bug theme.  Both sets of parents went all out with the incredible decorations and food. You will notice a lot of similarities in the pictures below :)

Both Emma and Georgia were thirsty lil chicklets!

Both Emma and Georgia were partied OUT! Can you blame them after all this fun!?!?
