morning routine gym essentials for working women.

Ever since Blake and I started the Tone It Up plan, we have been tweaking our eating habits, timing of meals and snacks, preparation for meals and workouts, and the timing of our workouts as well. The two of us quickly learned that we will be a lot more successful with our meals and workouts if we plan everything in advance.  Our most recent goal is to workout before our work day begins.  Therefore, we get up at 6:00 AM, head straight to the gym, run or do any type of cardio for an hour, shower at the gym, and head to work. It is the best feeling to arrive at work knowing your cardio is done for the day before the craziness of life gets in the way.  This way there is no excuse not to do it! I have already noticed a huge difference in my energy level, to the point where I forgot to drink my coffee yesterday! That never happens! So far, there have been three hiccups to this new routine.

1. There is not enough time in the morning to cook or plan out our meals/snacks for the day.
New plan: Cooking everything in advance on Sundays or Mondays and putting them into tupperware.
2. Bringing food to the gym in the morning that needs to be refrigerated.
New plan: Bring a lunchbox that is specifically made to keep things cool for hours. Add ice packs as well.
3. Need a more efficient way to bring my essentials into the gym shower.  Avoid putting things on the shower floor-ick!
New plan: Bring a hanging bag to put over the door that rolls up easily into the gym bag afterwards.

I'll include some pictures to add some color to my thoughts.

How do you make morning workouts more efficient? What is your routine? What do you keep in your gym bag? How do you prepare your meals for the week to maintain a healthy lifestyle? What keeps you on target with your goals?

Due to this new routine, both Blake and I are living out of our gym bags. It's hilarious! These things are filled to the brim so we have everything we need for gym and work.  You never can be too prepared :)  Let me know if you are interested in a full gym bag post and I'll make sure to do one of those as well.  Ooh maybe we could do a guys vs girls gym bag. Thoughts?

I love your lunch bag- so cute!!!

I absolutely have to pack everything the night before. I lay out my outfit (and always check to make sure I have the proper undergarments- it only takes once to forget those!) Your hanging bag idea is genius! I hadn't thought of that before. Luckily we have hair dryers at the office gym- one less thing to worry about.

I do the same with my lunch. Every Sunday evening I fill up my tupperware containers with my salads (I aim for 3-4 different colored veggies). I also add frozen fruit to small containers to add to yogurt, etc. I eat almost the same thing for lunch each day, so it's pretty easy to remember what I need.

You guys are doing awesome and it sounds like you're well on your way to setting good habits!

Love the owl bag. I can’t function until I’ve had my coffee in the morning! I bring to the gym in water bottle with ice---sometimes it’s the only thing that gets be though my workouts!

Today's gym bag lesson...always keep a spare pair of underwear in your bag. This way, you can never forget them!

I love your blog! I'm sorry I'm so late but I just saw the comment you left me on my blog. You're so lucky you two get to go to the gym together, that's the kind of motivation I need from my husband!
